John Simonds |
John E. Simonds is a retired former Honolulu newspaper editor who has lived in Hawaii since the 1970s. He is a Bowdoin graduate and former east coast resident who has written for daily newspapers in other parts of the country, as a Washington correspondent and earlier as a reporter in Indiana, Ohio, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia. He started his newspaper career in 1957 and retired in 2002. He is married and has four adult children and four grandchildren. His father, 97, lives in Connecticut. John jogs regularly and is president of the Mid-Pacific Road Runners club. He's also an officer of the Hawaii Literary Arts Council and on the board of the Friends of the East-West Center. John has written verse since the '70s, finding it a helpful discipline for revisiting experience, but only recently has he begun publishing his work. His e-mail address is [email protected] |
